etched in light
Single exposure of the New York City skyline with the Mandalay Apartments at the bottom on the Jersey City side of the Hudson river. This is a shot from January where the light was just perfect at sunset. There are maybe 4 or 5 evenings a year where the light is like this and mostly in the winter time. I found this shot as i was consolidating my image library with Lightroom and setting up a RAID storage for all the images (50k+).
manhattanhenge 2009
An image from Manhattanhenge 2009. Sun is setting directly down 42nd Street in New York City. I used a neutral density filter (ND .9) and an f-stop of 22 to generate the effect and also the lighter images that make up this shot were long exposures. This image was also published in the New York Times at:

I purchased a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF Lens last week and went out on Saturday to shoot with it and found that it performs great. I like this shot because the woman was just coming out of the shadows into the light and looked like she was going to walk right over me as i took the shot. I normally don’t shoot strangers but it helps with the Tamron to have some physical distance yet appear closer than you really are. This shot and a few other i took that day were not processed and outside of saving as a jpeg in Lightroom they are straight out of the camera.

Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn. The Manhattan Bridge provides a vital vehicle and subway link between Brooklyn and Manhattan in New York City (NYC), NY.
Shot the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges in the course of a few hours after work. This is the first in that set.

Headed to the PATH train walking up Broadway in New York City (NYC), NY. Used my sand bag pod as a “tripod” on the sidewalk. Looking to do more shots like this late at night when there are very few people out in the city.

The view south-east tonight from my office building at 7th ave and 29th street in New York City, NY. A different shot than “en fuego” with a different processing.
Not sure if I like how this turned out but hey 🙂
and there was light..

A lightning strike captured from my apartment in Jersey City, NJ. I was using my old camera (Nikon Coolpix 8700) and was lucky enough to capture this.

The view south-east tonight from my office building at 7th ave and 29th street in New York City, NY.
This was a very long exposure (498 seconds) which allowed me to process the image preserving light in certain areas and darkening in other areas.
St Bridget’s church

My most interesting image according to Flickr. This was shot with my old camera (a Nikon Coolpix 8700). It seems this image has sparked an increase in the interest for couples to have their wedding at St. Bridget’s which is a nice side effect.
This red brick Italian Gothic church formally opened its doors in 1887 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Today it houses the parish business office, a bustling day-care center and grammar school, a meeting room for youth of the parish, and a religious education center for both children and adults. St. Bridget’s church, with its spacious rear section, is an ideal location for large and small meetings and retreats.
St. Bridget’s continues to be a worship and gathering place for the descendants of the Irish, Italian and Polish settlers who founded it, as well as the many Filipino and Spanish groups who have moved into the neighborhood. St. Bridget’s also boasts two great volunteer choirs, one in English and one in Spanish, which add greatly to the prayerful worship experience.
